WHAT ANIMAL WOULD IT BE?
This was the starting point for the latest collection of Casa D’Amendoeira notebooks, created in collaboration with illustrator Maria Matos. Inspired by the shared love for books and an answer to this question, each notebook features an anthropomorphic illustration of writers – Eça de Queirós, Edgar Allen Poe, Oscar Wilde and Virginia Woolf. In addition to the original illustrations, these notebooks also have a quote from the writer on the back cover. The quotes are:
Eça de Queirós (The Fox): “A curiosidade, instinto de complexidade infinita, leva por um lado a escutar às portas e por outro a descobrir a América” – Notas Contemporâneas
Edgar Allan Poe (The Raven): “Deep into that peering darkness, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.” – The Raven
Oscar Wilde (The Owl): “I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train.” – The Importance of Being Earnest
Virginia Woolf (The Cat): “The flower bloomed and faded. The sun rose and sank. The lover loved and went. And what the poets said in rhyme, the young translated into practice.” – Orlando
This collection is an original gift that will delight readers and writers alike!
